Rose (Rosa rugosa) Tincture - 2 fl oz (60 mL)
Roses aren’t only beautiful, but also edible and medicinal. The rose plant is nutrient-dense, antioxidant-rich, astringent (contracts bodily tissues, i.e. gets the digestive tract moving), diuretic (helps relieve fluid retention), and anti-inflammatory.
Because of these properties, rose is good for PMS /menopause symptoms, upset stomach, sore throat, general colds, inflammation, and more.
Emotionally, rose can be used for uplifting the spirits and opening yourself up to love.
Nutritionally, rosehips are widely known as a good source of vitamin C and folate but also contain vitamins A, B3, D, and E, along with flavonoids, carotenoids, magnesium, zinc, copper and numerous other antioxidants. Read more about the medicinal benefits of rosehips in this evidence-based article: https://www.racgp.org.au/afp/2012/july/rosehip.
Precautions: As a natural diuretic, rosehips may increase the efficacy of prescription diuretics and should not be used at the same time. Rosehips should be used with caution if you are taking ferrous sulfate, because it improves iron absorption. Rosehips may also increase one's risk of developing kidney stones, and may irritate hemochromatosis, thalassemia and other issues that worsen with iron absorption. Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking a blood thinner, such as Coumadin®.
Suggested Use: As with any healing agent, herbal tinctures can be quite powerful and adverse reactions are always possible. Make sure to take the time to educate yourself on the herb you’re using before you try it.
There isn’t a standard “dose” so it’s best to begin a new tincture by trying only a few drops and drinking it in water or warm tea once a day. You can then gradually increase the dose to 6-12 drops in water or juice or directly onto the tongue up to three times a day.
Ingredients: hand-picked rose petals & rosehips from our farm, vodka.
The black glass bottle is intended to help prevent the possibilities of light degradation and/or rapid evaporation. The tapered dropper helps to effectively control the dosage.
Keeping it Fresh: This tincture is relatively shelf-stable due to the alcohol content. However, storing it in the refrigerator or in a cool, dark area may help prolong its shelf-life.
Shipping: At checkout, you may select shipping or local pickup. If shipping is selected, this product will include shrink wrap around the lid as an extra measure to prevent leaking during transit.
